i keep getting them confused..who is who?

Julius Caesar is the elder of the two; Octavius Caesar was his nephew and adopted heir. If it helps, July (named for Julius) comes before October.

Born Gaius Octavius Thurinus, Octavius inherited his position as Caesar from his Uncle Gaius Julius and the Senate agreed to Octavius having an elevated position. The Army under the control of Octavius drove his competing politicians out of Rome. Lepidus was driven into exile and Antony committed suicide in Egypt. Once the competition was gone, Octavius gave the public impression of returning power to the Senate, but he carefully controlled what the Senate did.

Julius Caesar was the famous Roman general who conquered Gaul and landed in, but didn't conquer, England. He wrote about his military campaigns in his book 'Gallic Wars' He eventually made himself de facto dictator of Rome and was assassinated by those who thought he was going to overthrow the Republic. Octavius Caesar was his nephew and heir. He continued the civil wars which were tearing the Empire apart. Eventually overcoming his deadly rival, Mark Anthony, he became undisputed ruler of Rome and its first Emperor. He renamed himself Augustus Caesar.
