That term is just saying that our ancestors came from Africa, not necessarily the people alive today that are called that. I do hate the word Black(like crayon color) though, I mean technically, we are brown, and I have NEVER seen a person that was actually Black, I just think it would be a darker shade of brown. I guess I could see where you are coming from though, but only a little. Besides, its been going on for this long, why change it only to complicate things. The answers you get will be based on individuality, meaning that some people like it, and others don't. I don't know what to say about the whole matter, I mean as long as it isn't racial, then I am cool with it.

My oldest friend's husband is an incivil engineer. I recall asking him to sign my passport in an emergency situation, I was five minutes from where he worked and he refused to come down to the lobby to help me out.
Remember Sheila?
He seems to have forgotten his oath. Later on in the evening I ran into another engineer I have known since high school, if he had not signed it for us, we would have been lost. As he was signing it, our incivil friend came in and just smirked.

my boss is an environmental engineer and mostly he has to kiss b*tt big time or the contracts don't get signed. so yeah, maybe civil anything would/should be a redundancy. maybe we don't need the word at all. i mean ever a serial killer has to be civil of somewhere. it doesn't mean a civil war is a kindly war. OK, so it's an oxymoron. so that's settled. whew!

Actually, i'd say it's an oxymoron. But seriously, civil is the branch of engineering that deals with transportation infrastructure - roads, bridges, overpasses, etc.
