If the skirt fits well everywhere except for the length in the back, then the best thing to do is to leave your fabric a little longer at your hemline. In other words, don't cut the fabric at the hemline the same length as your pattern. Leave the fabric about 10" longer in the back as well as the front.

Once you've sewn your skirt entirely: zipper, waistband and all, try it on and pin the hemline by pulling down the excess hemline fabric in the back so that it looks even with the front.

You'll need someone to help you pin the skirt while you're wearing it. Do it in front of a mirror so that you can see your profile in order to make adjustments.

Once its pined and it looks straight all around. Take off the skirt and place it on the table. The back of the skirt will be longer than the front. That's normal because of the give for the butt. Cut off The excess, and hem. You should have less excess fabric in the back than in the front.

I hope this helps you.

Good luck sweetheart and happy holidays

You probably have a muscular behind. Are you a runner? Anyway, make the whole skirt too long for you, then put it on and have someone pin it up at the hem so that it is the same length all around. Trim away the excess so that you have an inch or 2 to work with, whatever the pattern calls for.

i looked at the pattern you listed. which view are you making?
if you look at all the pattern pieces there may be place on the pattern to make it longer. you may want to consider actually making the yoke part longer in the back instead of making it longer at the hem. sometimes it is better to add fabric to the top of the skirt instead of the bottom. hope this makes sense to you. if you e-mail me i would be happy to help you alter your pattern.

just remember to have fun.
