Keep it out in the open with some air around it.. and on a hard surface..

If it is a new one you should be safe.. the newest Xboxes have new heat sinks and a new cooler running CPU called Falcon..

Don't worry about playing too long or anything.. you should be able to play as much as you want..

You should be fine..

Good luck..

Don't get the intercooler. They have been known to cause damage.

Keep it in a well ventillated area. Store it horizontally on a hard surface (not carpet). Some people have fans blowing on them.

Check the production date and batch number on the xbox you get. The most recent ones have the new Falcon processors in them and are much more resistant to the red rings. There are several places on the net that can tell you if you got one of the new Falcon 360s or not.

I bought a Xbox 360 a while back and I play it as much as possible as any little kid would with a new toy lol but i have mine on a hardtop glass table below my T.V. and a fan behind the Xbox 360 and i just let the fan go all the time when I play it and its never messed up and the Xbox 360 stays clean to! but yea i would recommend leaving it out in an open place with a fan on the back. Any more questions just send me an E-mail! Hope this answers your question bye.

i am too.yeahhhhhhhhh.well i already ahd one for a year and 6 months and it worked perfectly fine.well for the 1st 4 days i had it i had it horizontly, and it started to overheat because the 2 vents on the side wasa blocked.so from there on i stood it up and put a mini fan beside it for more airflow.most people say that wen u stand it up its not sturdy ENUFF so then it scratches your disc but would u rather have red rings or a little scartch on a disc.amd dont get the intercooler.they melt into back of your system and that ruins your warrenty.yes i know this becuase my bud has the intercoller and the intercooler ex.mines got the red lights.i forgot to turn fan on for the nest 2 days.lol.played 27 hours those wo days straight.weekend

The red rings are a problem that xbox has been getting but i think it has been fixed. For the 360 you should get a remote charger and if you like playing online with friends you should get xbox live. Games that you should get for it are:
Action: Bioshock
Adventure: Manhunt 2
Shooter: Halo 3
Role playing: Oblivion Elder scrolls
Sports: Madden 07
Party: Guitar Hero 3

What i did is i turned over a plastic box and put my 36 0on top of it. This prevents dust particles form getting into your xbox. Another option would be to buy a cooling fan from gamestop. Lastly make sure you have the options set to automatically shut off after 6 hours of inactiveity. Its a hastle when downloading it but it prevents the three rings of death..... Hope i helped

hopefully you will get one of the newer ones with the different cpu chip in it and it shouldn't overheat, best thing to do is keep out in the open where the fans will keep the hot air blowing out, keep it laying flat, don't stand it up (the people at game stop said this causes the games to get scratched) good luck I've had mine go bad once in almost three years now
