What a dreamer's question...but a humanitarian's hinder. How do you answer this question? Do you go with needs verses wants, or selfish verses selfless? We found out approx 6 months ago that my little sister was diagnosed with stage 4b mastetic pancreatic cancer. The disease is incurable, lifespan is limited and there are no survivors. She is a single mother and as her sister the custody of her children will come to me, and I will continue to raise them. With that said, on November 11th, 2007 we lost our 4 bedroom home to a house fire. So not only do I have no home to take my own children too, I have no home to bring my sister three girls too either. So if only for a few minutes, to step out of my reality into another is very welcoming at this moment...If I could dream just for awhile, another 4 bedroom home would be most needed and wanted...but If I could once just be selfish...it would be a "Jaguar". I am in my mid 30's, I have never had a car loan, I have always bought used and paid cash (a single mother for many years). Even than I don't think I would purchase a new jag, it would most likely be a classic, An oldie but a goody. Secondly I would put a huge swimming pool with a surrounding private paradise in that backyard we dont' have ...so that my family and I could really take the time to enjoy and be with one another. A time to reflect, a time to heal, and a time to move forward.
On the moral compass and humanitarian side of me, I would most likely be stupid enough to give a good bit of it away to family, friends and complete strangers that I thought really needed and or deserved some anonomous help. There are not enough places out there that help the average "joe", the "good guy next door", or just the "lady who always seems to be thered to help everyone and anyone" when it comes to a helping hand you may need someday. But than again when you lend helping hands you should always do it with no strings attached, and never expect something back. It takes away from this wonderful fullfilling feeling you can only get by helping others.
I always try to remember that there are lessons to be learned by each chapter in our lives, some we uderstand, and some we never will. Someone once told me..."Why cry over not having shoes, when some people have no feet? When I am feeling sorry for myself I try to always remember that. I would like to thank you for posting a question just out of your own curiousity. Because it gave me a few minutes to be in a place where I could be free from the negativity and devastation that has been playing such a large role in my life at this very moment.

Hey there! First of all I liked the other answers very good things in mind. I would start by taken a look at all of my debt (38,000) pay it off. Next I would invest $25,000 in my lil girl's 529 college plan for her to be able to go to college debt free. Then I would put $50,000 in my legg mason money market. I would then take care of my dad by investing $100,000 into a variable annutity to bring in income, currently he has enough for the next 10 years to live on with his social security check. But as we all have been told that will go away soon. Benifits will be cut and/or taxes will be increased. Next I would invest $50,000 into an property of land and build an house with $200,000 cash.I would then place 3 months of living expenses into checking acct. ($7500). FINALLY I would invest the rest in my ROTH IRA $536,250 with the American Funds and at 10% return of the next 32 years will grow to $12,389,520 for a nice retirement. Now with all of those needed areas of my finanical house in order I will earn money to live on and give to charity as I on a 10 - 15% of the money I earn.
