I have to read a historical fiction book for my Language Arts class. The book has to be more than 100 pages long. I also have to enjoy it, so maybe something funny or about sports.

I searched for as long as I could through all of these links. The middle one is the only one that would not help you at all. You can follow the others and enter 'historical fiction' and then see as best as you can what book may interest you.

These are the ones I thought might:

"The Long Dark: An Alaska Winter's Tale" (Humorous Historical Fiction) by Slim Randles. It's at Amazon for $12.00.
It is probably in lots of bookstore too, and may even be in a library, though maybe with the new books.

"Bronc Man" by D. Dina Friedman (a writer who has been a nominee for the Spur Award, which means the writer creates good westerns)... it's called 'leisure historical fiction' and is at Amazon too, for $5.99 or less.

A 2001 award winner in historical fiction that I saw in Wiki is called --oh man, I didn't write it down-- but as I recall, it's close to "A Study on How to be Cool" and I know it was written by Janet Taylor Lisle and got the award in the year mentioned.

Then a Newbury Award winner is "Hoot" by Carl Hiaasen, which seems to be about saving burrowing owls from developers... kids do it... and it got its award in 2003.

Another award winner, from 2006, is "The Game of Silence" by Louise Erdrich. I include this because I know this writer is very good, that she most often writes about American Indians because, I think, she is one; that is why I think this one would be of interest.

I hope you find a book that suits your needs. I went mainly for books that appeal to young adults or even kids because they will be shorter and more accessible.

*Ask* at your county library too... ask the reference librarian. They will really be the ones who will know exactly where to find the book you need and it will be free.
Happy holidays--
