ok so i have an AMD XP 2600 1.92ghz which is 3yrs old, i want to overclock it to a point where it is garaunteed to be safe and wont burn, what do you reccommend and how do you overclock, what things do i have to do, i.e. turn off any programmes, run on safe mode, anything like that, last but not least, i just wanted to say it doesnt matter how much i can overclock, even if its just to 2 ghz i'll do it lol, thnx a lot

If your motherboard is proprietary, forget overclocking. There are hardly any tweaking options. For retail motherboards, those with Nvidia chipsets are better overclockers. Consider a better processor cooler. XP 2600+ tend to heat up when overclocked. XP 2600+ is pretty sturdy. With good cooling, it won't fry even at higher than default voltage.
