The sonographer may have called them cysts, but if your doctor said they were normal, they were probably talking about follicles. Follicles develop in your ovaries as they prepare to release an egg every month when you ovulate. They will start off small and grow larger and larger until they burst and release the egg. People in the medical field, doctors included, often call them cysts when they should really call them follicles.

You can get large cysts, but even so, as long as they do not cause you any pain or grow extremely large (several centimeters), they truly are nothing to worry about).

suggest you do some research on the female reproductive system....the ovary produces a cyst which contains an egg, during ovulation the cyst breaks releasing the egg for fertilization. at any given time a woman can have multiple cysts forming on her ovaries preparing to release eggs.

Sure--every month, your ovaries produce an egg, and when the egg is released, a cyst (fluid-filled cavity) forms that produces hormones. A follicular cyst. Eventually it will shrink down and go away. See: http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=8442
You only have to worry if they get above a certain size and/or won't go away.

Um...I hate to disagree with a "medical professional" but I don't really think ovarian cysts should be written off as normal, especially if you have multiple cysts. I would schedule an appointment with a gynecologist and have them checked out. Sometimes they are nothing to worry about. Sometimes they are a signal of something like PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) or they could be a signal of something more dangerous. Either way, they can be treated so as not to cause you fertility problems in the future when you do want to have children.

i don't think so that everybody has cyst. cause cyst can be benign or malignant and only surgery and the lab can diagnose that. cyst can lead to CA. maybe what the doctor meant was the size was still normal and we'll just wait and see if it grows big and remove it.

have a second opinion see another doctor
