If it were my car, I would flush the entire system out and use Mercedes coolant in it. Regular anti-freeze, the "green" stuff, will attach the plastic and aluminum parts in your cooling system and cause premature gasket and pump failure. Dex-Cool is GM's attempt to copy the finer formulations of coolants used in European and Japanese cars that are at least phosphate-free. In my experience, Dex-Cool doesn't protect as well as "foreign" car coolants and gels up and need replacing too often. Either way, DON'T MIX!!!!

Although not recommended by the manufacturers, it is done daily by people who either can't get the correct coolant, or do not know any better. Just remember that the coolant mix will find its own specific gravity, and the coolant change intervals revert to the one with the shortest interval of the 2.

Never mix two different types of coolant. The react badly. Sometimes you cannot see anything at all. Other times they react and creates a sludge. This is what happened on my Audi when the quicky lube idiots flushed it with wrong fluid.
Good Luck and play by the book.

Adding that green stuff to it or using anything like a tester that had a little of that green stuff in it contaminated the Dex-cool causing a sludging to form.

the Chevy dealer told me that Dex-cool is not compatible with regular antifreeze, and when mixing Dex-Cool with regular antifreeze,it will crystallize and plug the heater and rad, among other not so nice things such as uneven engine cooling, etc ,etc.suggest to check with the gm dealer to be certain.

they do have a antifreeze out there now that is compatiable with any color of antifreeze, I went with the orange stuff in my dodge after I rebuilt the engine, sprung a leek on the heater hose and said enough of the orange stuff, went and looked and found some that was for use with any color and put it in and did not know the difference, now i flushed it all out and went with the conventional green stuff, a whole lot cheaper.
