Lots of people are scared of clowns, including me. I'd wouldn't scream, but I'd certainly feel extremely uneasy if there was one in the room. It's a VERY common phobia. However, it's also a phobia that's unlikely to affect you most of the time. I mean, how often, in your daily life, you come into contact with clowns? Pretty much never. It's not like McDonald's is essential, is it? Just pick a different fast food outlet and don't visit the circus. Being scared of clowns isn't a disabling phobia like being scared of say, dogs, which are impossible to avoid every time you leave the house, or spiders, which frequently turn up uninvited in houses. Just avoid situations where there will be clowns. Simple.

I'm not so scared of either in a general aspect but if (hypathetically) I had to be stuck in a dark room with either one of them, I would choose the zombie. My reasoning: I KNOW the Zombie is undead and trying to turn me into a zombie or suck my brains out, but the clown is a wild card. What is hiding under that happy persona?
