I live in the state of Illinois. I am 13. My parents are in the process of getting a divorce. As it stands there is 3 days at my mom's and 4 days at my dad's. I got in a fight with my dad on his day. Since they are not legally divorced would I be allowed to go to my mom's if I wanted to?

Look it is not like that- I am not some shallow girl who got in a sissy fight with her dad over her boyfriend

I got in a fight with my dad over my brother. My dad said I did not love my brother, but he does not know how much I love my bro. My twin brother is"not normal" and I help my brother at school and get made fun of for that. Then my dad tells me I do not love my brother!

so maybe rethink your opinions, this is SERIOUS, and I am not using at a weapon

Legally Sure.. But running away because you had a fight is not going to fix any thing in the long run. If you start now you will always be running.

You could create a lot of stress on both your parents. Please understand they are human and they are both having a tough time so give them both a break and do what you are supposed to do. They both love you.

* Well it sounds like your Dad needs some serious help. Here is my new latest advise stick with your brother no matter what happens stay together it sounds like he needs you. As you go back an forth from Your Moms to Your Dads your brother is the only thing that is constant. stick with him. If you are going to your Moms take him with you. Never leave him behind or your father may point to that and say "See you left him you don't love him".

Both your parents are under extreme stress give them a break they don't know how to control their emotions. So Love them any way but do what is best for you and your Brother always Think of yourselves as a team.

Sounds like you need help, Sorry, and Good Luck.

Fighting with parents is normal for teens. You may as well learn now that the way to deal with this is to learn how to better communicate. What you are proposing is running away from the problem.

Even if it were legally okay for you to leave, and even if your mother let you break the agreement, it is a bad idea to start the habit of running away when you have a situation you don't like. Furthermore, going through a divorce is tough enough. Please, don't add to the anguish by causing un-necessary problems for your parents.

Don't force you parents to have to tip toe around you for fear you will punish them by favoring the other. You are going to have to learn to live with each and their rules. Its a tough spot for you and its not something I would wish on a kid.

Good luck

Being that they aren't legally divorced...I don't think you would be doing anything wrong....If you are having issues with your father right now....it would probably be a good idea to go stay with your mother...But please don't run everytime you have an arguement with one of your parents...that isn't the answer...

If you are suppose to be at your dads I would say no you cannot do this. It is going to cause problems between your parents also if you do this.
