A tractor is pulling 2 cars through the mud. The magnitude of the resultant vector is 5000lbs along the x-axis. Find the tension in the tow lines if they make a 15 degree angle with the axis of the tractor. Thank-you in advance for the help i got a big test coming up and need to know this subject. it is my weakest one. thank-you

Since the angle of each tow line from the axis of the tractor is the same(15 degrees), the 5000lbs is distributed evenly between the 2 tow lines. So 2500 is the component in line with the axis of the tractor:
T = 2500/cos15 = 2588lbs

you will choose a hell of a job proving it. how are you able to coach that the stone in question wasn't on the line already? Farmers have an obligation to be as careful as virtually achievable approximately monitoring dirt onto the line, yet they could't be predicted to shine their tyres to sterility. in basic terms stay with it, or declare on your coverage in case you have it.
