In religious aspects, to be gay is to live a life of sin. I believe there are gay people who consider themselves religious and I think gays should be allowed to attend church, etc. However, I do not believe that a gay person should be the leader of a church. Many people don't realize that there is a difference between committing a sin and LIVING a life of sin. Sins can be forgiven if the person asks for that forgiveness and tries to make a change. Since many gays do not believe that their lifestyle is wrong, they therefore can not sincerely ask for forgiveness. Think about...who says sorry if one thinks they are right? Leaders of churches are human and do commit sins but to live a life of sin is contradictory to what a religious leader stands for. I am not gay and I probably wouldn't attend a church that had a gay preacher. It just doesn't feel right. However, i see nothing wrong with a gay person going to church. Churches should not turn away anybody unless that person is going out of their way to destroy that church and it's followers.Church should be a sanctuary for all...however, it should not be lead by all. Sorry if that was offensive but that was not my intention if it was.

By the way very good question, and not a simple question by any measure. I hope you like my answer. Firstly I am not Christian, and I should also note that I am not gay. I have studied theology for a very long time and will no-doubtedly get flamed strongly for my answer but I think it is important to answer this. As you would know the bible is made up of many books selected to make up the old and new testaments. There were a great many other books of scripture that were supposed to be just as valid, and could just as easily have been included in the bible, as we know it today. The selection of books chosen for the composition of the bible were supposedly the ones that most strongly focus on the principles of cannon law and doctrine at the time. I would suggest that not all of these where chosen just for the religious views but also for political views of the time. It is also important to note that peoples personal views and prejudices would have also had a certain amount of influence in the choices made at the time - this is just human nature, and man is just not perfect. With all of this said the majority of the population of this planet is ignorant of many of the teachings which should or could have been included. This makes it a very hard call to make judgements based on the existing book. I believe that if the other books were researched by correctly the answers that you are looking for may well become apparent. I will leave the choice of researching this up to the individuals; as if I stated the answer here on YA it would lead to a flame war by individuals that would believe I am attacking their religion and their values. I know the answer myself but others have to find it for themselves. After doing your research you should be asking the other questions: Who really said that they can't partake in this religion? and Who is it, that really hates them?

Every religion has its own rules and credos. Some accepts Gay officiants other not, same way some accepts women in their clergy and others not. This is a question of freedom and actually it is the followers of this religious group in my opinion who should decide what they want.
Like I wrote many times, Mankind are not divided by God, it is our credos and labelling systems of everything that divide us.
Servicing God is a call that anyone may feel one day irrespective of his / her sexuality. We are putting ourselves the limits.

What do you mean allowed? Allowed to become priests? Allowed to be members of the religion? Allowed to live in peace?
Yes I think they should be. Anyone who believes in a God who loved lepers, Samaritans and prostitutes but will burn homosexuals for eternity is an imbecile.

holy crap, girl, if i was kicked out of my school for being gay and a transgender i would sue their f^cking #ss off. i am so sorry!!!!!!!! if i were you i would sue for harassment and other charges and i would find out if your state has any anti discrimination laws for gays. cause that is like breaking the law what they did. you need to stand up. dont let the church or ANYBODY treat you the sh*tty again. EVERY. no no one has that right.
oh yeah, about that right, a reoccuring theme in the bible is 'dont judge lest you be judged.' so why should that dumb@ss highschool of yours judge you when they themselves have many flaws (i dont know that for sure but if they kick you out for being gay, then something must be wrong!).
but seriously, you should check what laws you have set up in your state because that could be a federal offense. if it isn't, than you could try to sue their butt of in civil court and hope that the judge is pro gay rights.

There are obviously religions where folks within said religion believe that folks who are homosexual do not belong; however, there are religions who also have no issues with homosexuals. I believe that homosexuals have every right to believe what they will believe and choose whatever path they wish to follow.
