He took a leave of absence from the Isles today. Seeking some anger management perhaps? Hopefully he is not back on the bottle becuse him and the booze don't mix too well.

Actually, it does appear that he is trying to work out his brain issues.

have enjoyed a long career achieving my dream of being a player in the National Hockey League and I’m proud of my accomplishments. But I acknowledge that time and assistance is needed before I return to the game.”

No Dirt- Of course it is very possible that this is his way of getting off easier by admitting he needs change. I still think it is refreshing and apparently he is a real class act and well thought of-off the ice, heck even on it by teammates and former teammates.
Even if it is a ploy, he has anger issues and needs to deal with them.

Bob do u think this a way to save his career ala my friend going to rehab after a dui before she went to court .. a way to make it appear she knew she had a problem and get off easier then if she just waited for sentence... is Simon doing the same thing or did i miss something as i have been out last couple days (i just know about the incident nothing more)

sorry but i hope the NHL doesn't go any easier on him. far to often rehab and counseling is used to get a lighter sentence and people don't take it seriously. plus hand down huge sentence and if he sticks with it then we will all know if he was for real about it or just using it as a ploy

I heard a rumour about this this morning, except the people talking about it were looking at it as a 'permanent' vacation. Chris Simon will be 36 years old next month. He's won a Stanley Cup, he's won a Memorial Cup, he's had a decent career. However at times, he has gotten out of hand, he has 'forgotten' to pay an ex-wife alimony, etc.

Having met him a couple of times, he seems like a decent guy, but decent guys have brain cramps too.

I wish him the best, but at the same time I hope he doesn't come back and finds something else he's good at and enjoys. Like commentating!

The first person that said Chris Simon 'forgot' to pay alimony to his first wife is 100% accurate. I knew him in Quebec, and he didn't just forget to pay her alimony, he REFUSED to pay her child support! Yes, he has a SON! He beat the crap out of his first wife and left her while she was 7/8 months preggo! He's an animal, on and off the ice, and it's about time people knew about it. If the coach knew the REAL Chris, he would think twice before going to bat for him. Karma is a BEEATCH, Simon, and you're finally getting yours!

The first step to solving a problem is admitting you have one.

Good for him. He needs to take some time away from this, and the Isles need to take some time away from him.

That being said, do you believe that this was voluntary, or did the Isles give him a nudge and say "We HIGHLY suggest that you take a leave of absence from this team."

Hopefully he IS getting AM how can you Do you just step on a person's foot like that!!! Granted there's bodily harm I'd like to do to a certain 1 or 2 people I work with (maybe some customers that come in.. ...I work at the lumber yard)
but I don't actually do it.

Good for Chris. Good for the league. Good for the players. The NHL does not need a stupid injury because someone has anger problems. Good for Chris for recognizing, admitting, and seeking help.

Saw that. I think this is the Isles advising him to be proactive.

Moose: I think the law talking guys (Lionel Hutz) were involved here. This is called mitigating the impact. If he goes and seeks help voluntarily there is more of a chance the league won't show him the door.

I just hope he never comes back to the NHL. The way he plays, it just seems like its a matter of time before he seriously injures someone.
