i was selling my xbox 360 on craigslist locally and i was contacted by a buyer from Brooklyn I'm from Staten island he asked me for my address to send me a check via fedex overnight
when the check was sent i got an email from him stating that his secretary made a mistake and sent 2,000 instead of 320
when the check came it had 4,000 on it he told me to go to the bank and deduct the 320 and ship the rest to someone in Wisconsin through western union supposedly because he had a consignment with some agent i looked it up on google earth and the address i was suppose to ship the rest of the money was in the middle of nowhere just highway roads and grassy plains.
the whole sum of the money is in my bank account being verfied the process takes 3-5 days i deposited the check a day ago when the process is complete someone from some shipping company has to pick up my xbox 360.
should i cancel the whole thing since it might be fraud or what?

It's a fraud and a well known one. You'll get stuck for a fraud check and the WU will be gone. SEND HIM NOTHING: return his check to him and have him WU YOU THE CASH.

Your bank can 'clear' a check in 3 to 5 days. What they don't tell you is that it can take up to two months to find out that it actually isn't any good.
And then, guess what?
Not only are you out what you sent to this fraudster, you can be charged a fee from your bank for cashing a 'bad' check (someone on ebay sent me a $10. check once, and not only did it not go through, my bank charged me for it! *lol*)
Not to mention that if your account becomes overdrawn from this, you're looking at MAJOR fees.

One thing I've noticed with some Craigslist scams, is that sometimes when they write to you they ask if you still have 'the item' that you listed...

Do NOT do business with this person.

Merry Christmas!

Yes, cancel everything. This is fraud, and you should contact your local police department. If they can find this guy, they can stop him from ripping other people off. Not everyone has the good instincts you. Contact Craig's List and let them know as well so they can kick this guy off the website.

Definitely a scam. Just cancel it and tell him forget it.

This is also an old money laundering trick, so you may actuallly be in the middle of a criminal enterprise.

You are being scammed. Stop the whole transaction, notify your bank and don't ship anything.

This is a scam. Void the transaction and do not ship the package.
