Why do you think they do? Do you mind?

I don't think anyone's ever confided anything huge with me, which makes me sad - but lots of people who hear people's problems all the time say it really annoys them.

Thanks, any answers would be really good :)

Yes, people do confide in me. I don't mind unless it is gossip. I think it is because they know I care, and will listen. I don't always have the answers, but that is not what they are always looking for, they just need someone to listen.

I seem to be the shoulder everyone crys on. Was there for my buddys grandfather getting his leg removed (cancer), heard about another friends experience with being raped as a kid (actually heard a lot of those, sadly), heard about an old friends pregnant ex girlfriend dying on an OD and that's why he stopped...

They tell me this stuff because I am an open ear and I don't gossip. When people tell me things, it stays between us unless they are hurting or going to hurt them self or others. Many friends think of me as their other guardian now.

I used to get nightmares about it. But now it doesn't bother me and I give what ever advise needed and offer them "the bright side" or what ever they need to hear to feel better.

Quite a few confide in me with things I would never dare let leave my lips. I dont gossip about their problems and am pretty much there when they need me. I dont mind too much, heavily depending on the person, but they all know my empathy isnt one of the distinct features in my personality. I can be empathetic, and I can relate to alot of what they say, but my sympathy isnt to the point where Id be in the situation of "Ill cry since youre crying" sort of deal.

Yes, people say I'm a good listener. I think it's because I was shy so did less talking than they did. I also make eye contact & that makes people feel at ease. For some reason, people I just meet tell me their life stories. It's a bit weird as I would never do that.

Some people just come across more empathetic than others.... I am one of those people. And yes.. people do confide in me... and no.. I don't mind... so long as I'm in a good place in my life at the time... after all you can't really do good for anyone else if aren't in a good place yourself.

It is beginning to annoy me as once I get confided in I often get ditched. Like I was a waste bin or something. Sometimes it can be very productive though, which is rewarding. I do get astounded at what people will tell me. Even on Yahoo.

Yeah, people confide in me sometimes. I think it's because I do my best to help them out and I don't gossip about it or tell people. People can trust me about important things. It doesn't happen so much that it annoys me, and it makes me feel good that people trust my opinion enough to ask about things.
