Sometimes a mediator is brought in to help the members resolve the conflict. Don't know what type of class this is or I'd direct my answer more to what I would think the professor is looking for. Answers are so varied and really depend on the conflict you are speaking about.
1) third party neutral mediator
2) vote - with a majority wins
3) throw out all current ideas and require that each member come up with a completely new resolution to the problem
4) compromise
etc. etc. etc.
Can you give any specifics about the conflict?

I would assume since this is a team exercise, that there are more than two members.
If thats the case, the conflicting ideas are voted on by the group (if no leader is established to make the decision for the group) and the one with the most votes is the plan of action to take.

obviously : the conflict wont be resolved.
first i thought that it depends on the maturity of the teammembers what would happen but that might lead to a resolution of the conflict, so i ended after some thought with 'the conflict wont be resolved'
