It's live and in living color
Now the question is: are you going to be in nyc or la? If you are in NYC, all you need to do is show up (do so early so can get a good spot and be prepared to be there for hours) but if you are in LA and want to do the dance floor thing then I think you will need tickets.

It's always live. You don't need tickets to hang out in time square but any party in New York will cost you.

live, theres alot of people out there with him and they have to be there on the actual day when everythings closed, also...no you dont need tickets, as many people that want to come can, exept youll have to pay , but not like tickets or anything .
