My nine year old is getting a ds lite from Santa Claus.

I already bought her "trace memory" and "magical starsign". I also picked up a "starter pack" with ear buds, screen protector, a car charger, and an extra styllus.

What games do you recommend and why?
What other accesories do you recommend and why?

Thanks in advance!!!

Nintendogs: Dalmatian and Friends (she will love it!)
Mario Party DS (cute, fun to play with friends)
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (pretty easy, to get her into zelda games)
Pokemon Diamond or Pokemon Pearl (if hse likes pokemon, might be a little too hard for her age)
Super Princess Peach (i've heard its cute and fun)
Tetris DS (if she likes puzzle games)
Animal Crossing: Wild World (definetely get this game, make your own town, collect items, money, etc)
Mario Kart DS (every one who has a DS is required to have this game BY LAW.. not really but its one of the greatest games for DS: you race and use special items)
Zoo Tycoon or that new Thrillville game (good for younger kids: care for animals, make a zoo, make a theme park for thrillville)
Super Mario 64 DS (might be too hard, check it out)
New Super Mario Bros. (same as above)

These are just a few games I thought of in a few seconds. There's so many more that she would love. Check out link below.

Nintendogs is probably going to be enjoyable. Care for, walk, feed, groom, and play with a virtual puppy. There are other games like that but not as good (Dogz, Catz, Hamsterz, Horsez) in terms of graphics or features.

Depending on your daughter's propensity for losing things, you may want another stylus or two. Definitely load up on screen protectors; I consider them a necessity since many games use the touch screen. They last a little while and are inexpensive, but make sure she's still got it on the screen. It will extend the life of the machine.

The batteries in the DS Lite certainly are rechargable. The device comes with an AC adaptor that you can use to recharge it. On a single charge the battery will last between 6 and 20 hours, depending on the brightness setting.
