There sure is! Its happened to me a few times, and is a good learning curve.
Sometimes the person you love has different ideas on what they want to do in life. For example; many years ago my girlfriend and myself had been living together for a couple of years, then she decided she wanted to see the world and was about to leave her job and take off. I said sure you do what you want to do, I'll be here when you get back, then she dropped the bombshell, she said she didn't know when she'd be back so don't wait for too long.
It was a bit of a 'kick in the teeth', but if it was going to make her happy then I wasn't going to stop her.
Sure it was 'love lost' but she was happy, I'd get over it sooner or later, and I bet now she is wishing she'd never said those words "don't wait too long"! (But that's another story).

The quote goes: "It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" And yes I agree with the Quote.

Lost several times. It is one of the times in your life you really know that you are alive. It may not be fun, but that is subjective. Jumping out of perfectly good airplanes is fun to some people.

The quote " it's better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all". I think it means it would be sad to have lived and never to have known love at all.

Death represents the loss (lost), real love is forever!
