The plant is one of those viney plants that dangle downwards, is this in any way harmful for the plant? because of the frequent cycles of light, i'm sure it is very confusing for the plant to differentiate between day and night because of this. should the plant be moved?

Maybe. Not knowing exactly what you have pothos/scindapsus?? .......your plant may be very forgiving. As long as it is receiving enough light from a window, then no, it may be fine. The on/off light may be messing with flowering cycle, but growth cycle may be OK. Watch the plant, if it gets stretchy between the leaves, leaves are smaller and smaller or no growth at all........move it.

It very much depends on the plant. Vining plants like Pothos are fine in lower light so turning the light off and on won't harm it. Other plants, however, benefit from better lighting. Try to find out exactly which plant you have and then you can research its' lighting requirements.
