Oh yes, by all means, follow what all these ignorant souls are saying to you. Marry him at once! Worship the ground that he walks on! But before you do that take a minute to research some middle eastern and western marriages. You'll find that most of them are ok, to start, then he will start imposing his ancient rules and regulation upon you. When the children come then he will leave you, take them and return to his middle eastern roots. That'll probably be the last time you'll see them! The US State Department has been terribly unsuccessful in returning stolen children to their western mothers.

Kind and sweet is a great when your dating, but when your talking about "The Big M", you need to be compatible, on so many levels.
What are his views on women's rites in general?
What about female children versus male children?
If he's American born, you have a different animal!
Is he devout Muslim or convert'?
How many feet behind him do you need to stay, when you walk anywhere?
Is America his permanent residents?
I heard once about an Mid East gentlemen who married an American had a male child.
They had problems and his reaction was to take his son back home to Iran or Arabia and there wasn't much to do after that!
There are things you will never know until it's too late!

Run! Women in most Arab countries have a status lower than a camel.
A married woman becomes the property of her husband's family, and has no rights of her own. Her husband has absolute control over everything she does, what she wears, where she goes, and who she communicates with, and has every right to beat her at any time, provided the stick he uses is no thicker than his thumb. That is the law.
Frankly, my dear, you have to be crazy to marry, and if you're not, you soon will be when the honeymoon is over.

Quick decisions can spoil your life.
Marriage decisions have to be taken with maturity. You like someone does not mean that you can live with someone. Mere infatuation starts the desire but when truths are unravelled on the second day together, you are left with nothing but repentance.
I would suggest that you ask him to wait until you are fully confident. Check out what his likes and dislikes are, what are the culture shocks you are going to get and what is the true personality (Arabs are a man dominated society) behind the goodness...
Then decide whether you can adjust in the new life....You will have an answer from your heart.

From experience, KNOW their culture. It will come up if he has been raised in an Arab family. It's not necessarily a bad thing, you just have to really make sure you know what you are getting into.

If you would have to change religion, take a hard look at what that would mean and what the position of women is in that religion. I married an Iranian, things changed immediately as soon as we were married. I divorced as soon as I could.
