Enjoy the xbox 360 and keep your receipt in case you need it later. I taped mine to the side of the elite. Anyway just keep the 360 out of the entertainment center and when you are done gaming exit the game and leave the 360 on the main menu for a few minutes to allow it to cool down slowly before you turn it off totally off. This isn't the fix but it will prolong the life of the 360.

THe ps3 Does Not have red ring of death issues, it's processor and GPU ARE capable of handling the stress of hd gaming physics and graphics...Nor does the ps3 have over heating issues unless someone intentionally blocks the venting and confines it in a entertainment center in which case the ps3 has a fail safe and shuts down and won't turn on until it is cooled. .

Until Microsoft themselves states that they have found and fixed the problem then keep the reciept because Microsoft has only stated that the new chip will help...THey never said it was the fix.

THe 360 does still get Red ring of death unfortunately due to the stress on the internal components caused over time by 360 hd gaming. The heat issue with the 360 isn't the ability of the 360 to expell heat it's the heat caused by the massive surges inside the componants themselves that cause them over time to crack and warp and eventually fail. Microsoft does offer a 3 year warranty so don't sweat it. Keep your receipt and just enjoy the console and the games.

The Ps3 has a 0.02% Failure Rate.
The Xbox 360 has a 33% Failure Rate.

And, what do you mean by new models of the Xbox 360? Do you mean the Xbox 360 Elite or the Halo Edition?
They're all the same..

The "New Model", codenamed Zephyr, will be having a HDMI port and 120 GB Hard Drive..
I don't think their Failure rate reduced, it's still 33%..

But, if your going to buy the 360, just keep your warranty and your box safe.

I can only guess that english isn't your primary language.
However, the newer models of XB are a lot less prone to getting RROD, because MS added a post heat sink (instead of the old push down) as well as added a cooling pipe.

Hey Lollipop, Zephyr was the PREVIOUS version of the 360. The new one (FALCON) have new cooler processors that should significantly reduce the problems the 360 has had.
