I don't know about THE land of the free, but it is A land of the free, for the most part. I don't see people getting their heads chopped off for having an extra-marital affair or arrested for surfing certain websites. I think anybody who thinks it ISN'T free would have the burden of proof. Granted, there have been some legal maneuvers made that could serve to break down the the system of democracy in one fell swoop, but that hasn't happened yet. Let's try something:
I hate George W. Bush....

...nothing happened.

The truth is, there never was such a thing.

The United States does allow more personal freedoms than other nations, but when it comes to keeping a safe enviroment, a fair ability for everyone to have opportunity, and so that people can be protected from those who wish to rip people off by cheating or stealing, there are laws that have to be passed by the government.

If we really were an all around free country, there would be no laws whatsoever and mass chaos.

It appears so, but I think in due time we will end up losing freedom bit by bit until we have nothing left. Just remember, Canada and Australia are also the land of the free.

Yes, I do. We have freedom in this country... if we didn't have freedom here, there wouldn't be so many opinionated people.

All Americans should be thankful that they were born in the land of the free. Anyone who says otherwise is insulting our men and women fighting for our freedom overseas.
