I recently graduated from business school and recieved my B.S. and have started working in HR. I think that I would like to stay with HR and am also thinking about going back to school part-time to get my MBA. The programs I am looking at are 2-3 year programs so that would give me some work experience as well as my MBA- though I am looking at the cost and I am already in debt from my undergraduate career.. is it worth it to go in debt more for my MBA? Is an MBA a good thing to have while working in HR? I just want to make sure that investing in an MBA would be beneficial for me in the future.. especially where it would be putting me so far in debt.

My company does have a tuition program but I will still be putting myself in a lot of debt

The better MBA programs require 2-4 years of work experience, and you don't want to spend money and time at a program that is not a good one. For the next few years, focus on your job and look for all opportunities to learn more and get some advancement (promotion or expanded job title). All that will help in your eventual MBA or MLIR (HR focus, which I don't recommend). I agree, find somewhere where you can get an MBA or other graduate degree paid by the company--those options are getting less and less so choose carefully.

I think the best way to earn an MBA is to get employed at a company who invests in educating their employees. Many companies have education reimbursement, and will pay even more if the degree directly relates to helping them out in some way.

Luckily, from what I have seen, working in HR with just a BS has a fairly high salary. I guess what you need to do is to look at the job market and see what the pay scale is for a BS in HR Management versus having an MBA. Also see what doors open up if you have an MBA.
