Hi,

I have a Dyson DC14 that I bought here in the States. I am considering taking to UK where it is 240V. Can I do that or do I need to buy a new one?

Thanks,

I'm sorry that so many people think you can just buy an adapter to switch from American to European appliances. They are wrong.
In America the electricity coming to your house is 120 volt 60 Hertz (Hertz= cycles per second) while in Europe the electricity is 240 volts 50 Hertz. A transformer (read adapter) can reduce or increase voltage, but nothing is going to change the Hertz.
Best case; You will void your warranty on the vacuum and it will not work as well as designed. Worst case; You'll plug it in (with the infamous adapter) and watch your vacuum burn up.

You cannot plug it in over there; it'll blow-up!
But contact the Dyson web-site, they may help you.

You can take it, but you'd need to buy an adapter for the outlet.

yes but you need to get a voltage reducer for it, 220v down to 110v
