I think it would be reasonable to expect you to be a viable employee by 10. After all, you need to suck up enough caffeine to become aware of your surroundings. Then the inevitable trip to alleviate the build-up of said caffeine. Then the catch-up at the water cooler...yea, 10 should do it.

My boss is laid back. Sometimes its good, sometimes its bad.

8 am is when you are to be ready for work.
Other wise you are stealing......
Look at it as if you owned the company. Would you want you, if you started at 8:17 everyday.
