what time does your boss expect you to actually start working??

I think it would be reasonable to expect you to be a viable employee by 10. After all, you need to suck up enough caffeine to become aware of your surroundings. Then the inevitable trip to alleviate the build-up of said caffeine. Then the catch-up at the water cooler...yea, 10 should do it.

I suppose he would EXPECT me to start at 8. But since I get there at 9 that's not gonna happen! BTW, I leave at 3(hehe) everyday!

I usually dont get in till 8:15 and i dont start working till 8:30.
My boss is laid back. Sometimes its good, sometimes its bad.

8 am is when you are to be ready for work.
Other wise you are stealing......
Look at it as if you owned the company. Would you want you, if you started at 8:17 everyday.

As soon as there is something that needs to be done. It could be right away or in an hour or so. Where I work, anyway.

LOL. The one I have right not doesn't mess with me in the morning. He'll most often send an email saying, "Whenever your ready..."
