Did you actually click/read...it's about bringing civility back to the workplace ....
it's not 'feel-good' legislation nor is it a 'job-killer'. it's legislation that addresses *root* problems inherent in corporate cultures that are allowed to continue...fester...driving up costs of the doing business through increased absenteeism, healthcare costs, etc.

some states have already passed such laws.

response to : makes the very good point that often the *best* employees end up leaving a company for better environment...increasing company's cost due to high turnover...sometimes those who stay are those who have/must 'settle'

it really denotes a change in mindset of a generation of employees..there's more to going to work than getting a paycheck ...it's about respect!

Agree?

None.

Workplaces are for grown-ups. If your co-workers are mean to you, get another job.

Like the courts don't have enough to do already?

What a stupid idea.

We're not talking about someone saying something that upsets you we're talking about more serious issues.

Dealing with a full time job is hassle enough without having to deal with bullying in the workplace. Anything that makes going to work a little easier has got to be a good thing.

Far too many idiots out there think that it is perfectly acceptable to take their personal problems, bad moods etc... out on their colleagues. They get a little power and it goes to their heads. It transports them back to the bully's they were when they were in school and that can never be a good thing.

I am currently going through a period of quite serious bullying because my colleague is having problems at home and takes it out on me when she gets to work. I'm in the UK though and she and my boss are as thick as thieves and he'll always take her word over mine. Needless to say I am currently looking elsewhere. If I could afford to walk out now I would.

I don't get paid enough to put up with that.
