what does these sports terms mean and what sport are they in? please answer as many as you can because i've looked for them on the internet and can't find them anywhere!! i'm such a failure at sports its not even funny!

a) bang the apple
b) split the uprights
c) toe the ball
d) burn the nets
e) scoreless tie
f) thinclads
g) circuit clout
h) coveted trophies
i) pilfered sack (i think this is football could someone back me up?)
j) oblate spheroid

If you have heard these terms from a sports announcer you might understand that those people talk so they can hear themselves and have no idea what they have said, and often it makes no sense. Here are some of the answers.
1. hit a baseball
2. kicks a field goal or extra point in football
3. kicks the ball
4.scores in basketball, usually a lot.
5. an example of how stupid the announcers really are.
6.track runners.
7. I guess someone or team that has a lot of influence or power in a limited group or division or conference.
8.aren't all trophies coveted?
9.someone stole a sack?
10. oblate means to flatten a sphere, so they are trying to use big words that the general public doesn't know to try to sound smart, while using the word incorrectly.
