Because people with an inkling of sense realize what a liar Michael Moore is. His 'research' was biased, ignored what didn't support his fantasies & his presentation was fraudulent. In short he is just another brainless stooge mouthpiece of the evil marxist left.

Most people looked at the movie "Fahrenheit 911" from one of two views:
1) Moore is a complete idiot producing a bunch of lies, or
2) Everything he says in the movie is the gospel truth.
Very few people took a middle of the road view realizing that the "truth" was most likely somewhere in the middle. So, about 99% either disbelieved what he said and felt he was "beating-up" on poor George, or felt that everything he said about Bush was entirely true.
Combined with the fact that, like it or not, Bush was a "wartime" president. If a war is generally well-supported by the public, wartime presidents tend to do well over challengers.
Also, was there anything really unique about Kerry's campaign other than he was against the war (he voted in favor of the military action) ? Basically, his only platform was that he was against Bush.
To win an election, I think one has to have something really unique that they stand for, or at least try to market it that way. Bush had better marketing.
Unfortunately, in today's day and age, you have to have personality to get elected. Kerry had the personality of a dead fish. Like him or not, GWB has more personality...even if its negative...(stumbling over words...making bad jokes...) Think about the material of the late-night comedians during the election....was it easier to make jokes about Kerry or Bush? I saw way more jokes about Bush....OK then, that's popularity (good, bad or otherwise)
The same thing was true with Bush I vs. Clinton. They made a lot of jokes about daddy Bush, but Clinton had more charisma...and think about the miliage he got doing the saxophone thing...he also had better sound bites (I didn't inhale) So, then there's more material to use lampooning Clinton!
Is this a sad state of affairs? Sure it is.....welcome to the 21st century.

Honestly, Americans don't like to hear that anything is wrong with their country. So when you have someone like Michael Moore telling everyone about America's problems and saying that President Bush is responsible (no matter how truthful) they will call him anti-American and vote for Bush just to get back at Moore. Simple as that.
