Bottled water has become a huge industry. Millions of dollars are wasted on buying bottled water in America, because the tap water is clean and healthy. In some places, it has a bad taste, but won't make you sick.
Other places in the world, bottled water is a necessity for many people. If they drink the tap water, they will get sick ... Mexico, Africa, The Philippines (Manila) , Thailand (Bangkok) ...
