I just finished doing a search on YA and there are a whole lot of posts about Dan Fogelberg's passing, and I actually read through most of them and the majority, like me, have been very touched by him over the years. I actually posted a message on YA last night around 11:00 after I read about it while I was online. I can't even imagine a world without him and any new music that I'm sure he would have written. Fortunately we will always have the music he did create while he was with us. My younger years are filled with memories of his incredible music. I don't really remember exactly how or where I "discovered" him - I like to think he discovered me. He so touched me. I can't really pick just one favorite song - I love them all. Even though I didn't know him personally, I feel like he knew me because the way he wrote was just the way I thought and felt. His kind of talent is almost non-existent anymore. As far as I'm concerned, he is one of the most gifted and talented artists of my generation. Such a beautiful human being. The world is less now. My heart is hurting.

About 20 or so years ago, I had the lyrics to "Leader of the Band" printed out, enlarged and matted into a 20x24 frame as a gift to my Father. He was the leader of his band, his family and friends as well as a big fan of Fogelberg's music.
Fogelberg's legacy will always shine on for me and my family. It is and always has been "part of the plan".
Sentimentally, "The Gambler" has always touched my being as well.

Make Love Stay & So Lonely in Love are two of my favorites by Dan Fogelberg. I will remember Dan Fogelberg for bringing us songs that touched our hearts & soothed our souls altogether. Though he is now gone, but his music will forever be in our lives as his music brought in ourselves the innerpeace in our mind that we so enjoyed.
To the memory of Dan Fogelberg, thank you for bringing us your music & inspiration to our lives. You will be missed by us all, but never forgotten.

I've been a longtime fan of his music. The song I thought of when I heard the news was "Souvenirs", and it really seemed to sum up how I feel at his lost.
And here is a sunrise to set on your sill
The ghosts of the dawn moving near
They pass through your sorrows
And leave you quite still
Sitting among souvenirs.

OMG I am so saddened!
My favorite will always be Nederland. I was playing it on my cassette the first time I ever drove through the town.
I'll never forget picking out the harmonies on the Phoenix album in my dorm room in Spain.
Ohh so sad! We've lost a great singer/writer/musician.

I was never a fan of his,
but I think the songs take second place to what he died of:
Prostate cancer at 56 years of age.
If you're over 50, the American Medical Association recommends getting checked for it at least once a year.
It's what you don't know that can kill you.
