The best argument that I ever heard about Pornography was from Larry Flint when he said
"I can legally print pictures or write detailed descriptions of Murder, decapitations and body dismemberment which is all grotesque, an aberration of nature and illegal... But I can't print pictures or write detailed story's about a man and a women having sex which is beautiful, natural and legal"
Having said that, I think that Pornography has had a negative impact on society, but only because it causes such daily conflict with the remaining Puritan values that still overwhelms so much of our daily thinking.
I mean really, think about it... 16th century Massachusetts...
" Hon...Let's get Grandma and the kids and go down to the Town Square and help stone the witch to death, but make sure you have your ankles covered okay?"

RE:
Do you think pornography has a negative/positive effect on society?
Pornography, or the legalization there of, has only been around since about 1960.
Do you think pornography effects society in a negative way? If so, why.. elaborate.
Do you think pornography has had positive effects on society (since it has been legalized).
Any information you way to share,...

What is pornography has changed throughout the decades. In a way pornography has been accepted a little bit more and more. The only time I see pornography hurting someone is during a relationship. Pornography is also based on your own moral guidelines what you want to see or act on.

Pornography has either negative or positive effect on society.
1). For negative effect: it provides bad affect to women (dehumanized and disvalued women and lead to violence against women). Added to this, it provides bad affect to the people who use it. Of course, pornography usually refers to representations designed to arouse and give sexual pleasure to those who read, see, hear, or handle them. Thus what will happen for the users. They can commit rape crime with people who they know or do not know in order to fulfill their sex drive at that certain period. Who will be suffered from rape case? Wives? Girlfriends? Daughters? We can imagine, if you were those victim girls from rape, what the consequences after raping to the victims. As we have known so far, they can have physical injury, psychological problems, unwanted pregnancy, and sexual transmitted diseases (STI or HIV) and can be prolonged in their mind till they die or some cases, the victims can not endure with this case might lead to commit suicide.
2). For positive effects: Pornography provides a sexual outlet for those who have no sexual partner (they are away from home, recently widowed, isolated because of infirmity, they simply choose to be alone). Besides, It provides sexual information on at least three levels: 1). it gives a panoramic view of the world's sexual possibilities, such as masturbation, even it seems to come less naturally to women than to men; 2). it allows people to 'safely' experience sexual alternatives and satisfy a healthy sexual curiosity. Pornography allows people to experiment in the privacy of their own bedrooms, on a television set that can be turned off whenever they have had enough; and 3). it provides a different form of information than textbooks or discussion.

Pornography has been around since recorded history, there are instances in the bible, on egyptian tombs and it was really big during the 1800s, especially in Great Britain. It was never illegal during those periods, although frowned on publicly. It generally has a positive effect in that it can provide an additional "spark" in a relationship and can serve as a sexual outlet for others. There is no reputable link between pornography and sexual crimes or abuses.

i dont think it has a positive or negative effect on society. nudity has always been around and so has sex. along time ago sex was used as a way to get their way. i do think it does have a negative effect on relationships. now when some people get involved with a relationship they just want sex and nothing else.

As with anything to much of a good thing can be a bad thing. People are becoming addicted to pronography. Women Children and sometimes men are enslaved by unscruptulous people in the sex industry(Mainly in third world countries but also here in the US). So I would say as a marital aid yes it is good as an overused product it is dangerously bad..

It's probably better that lonely men are choking their chicken over a magazine than doing the same to a hooker so I'd vote positive.

You need to do your own research, but, for the record, the word is "affects" (def: causes a change), not "effects" (def: the result of a change) (it's easy to remember: Affect=cAuse; Effect=rEsult; hence the phrase, "Cause and Effect").
BTW, I think a single gun used in any crime does more harm than any amount of porn (assuming the latter is between consenting adults).
