She just talks for a living. How did she get to be a multi-millionaire?

I do but just a point of fact, she is a billionaire not a multi millionaire. I firmly believe that people have the right to do whatever they want with their money but can't help but notice that she gives relatively little to black Americans instead choosing to donate heavily in Africa. Again, she can do what she wants because it is her money but if it was me, I would be trying to help my own first.

She also has her own production company. magazine, and produces Dr Phil's show as well as several other movies.
I do not think she is overpaid because she is a great philanthropist.
No one is complaining about Jerry Bruckheimer, or Steven Speilberg or Bill Gates and what they make...I wonder why!!!Could it be because none of them is an african american woman????
She is not any more grossly paid than those athletes that these haters sit on the couch and watch week after week. Keep in mind that very few of these other high paid celebs do very little for anyone else in their spare time! Did of them build a leadership academy for impoverished girls in Africa?
Did any of them start an angel network to help children around the world...did any of them build a whole neighborhood for the Katrina victims...
who honored the first responders on national television and showered them with gifts...
who honored teachers and showed them love and respect that we can't even get from the children we teach?
She has done a great deal with her money to serve those in need and I admire her a great deal!
Before you decide to hate her...look at her record and then make a judgement call.

NO! Totally not... I don't say that they have to pay her more but she has really worked hard for it!
And besides that she gives and does a lot for other people!! What about you? Do you do such things in the proportion? I don't think, even I don't!
She has began from scratch and she has worked her way up.... There are millions of people looking her show every day! She works all the day: preparing the show, making the show, giving the show, preparing the next show, .... She's busy all the time, every hour of the day! She doesn't has any easy 9to5 job like the most of us where you can forget about everything the minute you open your frontdoor. I hope all of you understand that... She's just being paid for the work she has delivered which is muchos more than what me do.... So yes they may pay her millions, billions, trillions, she deserves it!

I don't care for her, but no, she's not overpaid. She's an entertainer and is making as much money as the market will allow and people want to pay her. That's pretty much how it should work.

Her and every other celebrity and athlete. We pay these people millions of dollars to make a movie might watch once, or play a sport for a couple hours a week, but yet we can't afford to pay the people who are teaching our kids in the school system.

I hate oprah, I think that she is so pathetic, she was something that so many people where and when she became famous she forgot about all those people and became a rich bznatch. she only stands up for what she believes in and dont reach out to people in her own country who need help what a sad pathetic woman

A lot of ppl love the things she talks about I guess. It doesn't seem to me that she should be paid any more than other talk show hosts. I gree with you there. But I think she also gets a lot of money in other ways, by investing, advertisement, and things of that sort.

There are SO many ppl like that. It disgusts me and i totally agree with u. But Oprahs not the only one. Ray Romano gets paid like 3 million for each EPISODE and he only reads the script...

Lots of people get paid for talking. Robin Williams would be an example. It all depends on who is willing to pay to listen. Supply and demand. If there are people willing to pay to listen to her then she will make money off of it. Heck, if you were able to entertain people by talking and people were willing to pay for that then I bet you would take them up on the offer.
