It amazes me that these people constantly bash us Americans. Now it's us causing all the global warming problems. Are we the only country that drives cars? Are we the only country that uses plastic (made from crude oil I believe)? Does everyone in every other country recycle? I wish these pepole would climb down off their self-righteous bandwagon and take a good look at their own country.
I will admit that we are a wasteful society. But so are others. I also don't like being lumped together with others that do not care. I recycle. I don't drive a gas guzzler unlike those with Hummers and big SUVS that don't care how much gas costs because they can afford to pay for it no matter what it is. I do not use styrofoam or else I reuse it and reuse it. I don't throw out plastic containers or forks. I don't buy those containers they say to use once and discard.

Im with u on alot of this. BUT Im also tired of Americans bashing America!!! Thats even worse than a foreigner doing it! Im sorry but I wouldnt want to live anywhere but the good ol USA!!! Yes we do waste alot- and we r completely spoiled BUT I like u- recycle paper as well as bottles and on and on. I admit- it would probably kill me to live 200 years ago- I cant see me beating my clothes against a rock in the creek! We have food and alot of it right at our finger tips- but I very rarely waste- Ill feed it to the barn cats rather than throw it out- atleast a living creature eats it. But you r right- THIS is the United States of America nad if they hate it so much then go on home for Gods sake and keep your mouth shut! Have a wonderful Christmas!

I dont think they come on deliberately to bash america. People ask questions and others just give their opinion. You can take it or leave it. I thought that Y!A was an open forum for people to express themselves openly and honestly. You have to take the good with the bad. Perhaps you shouldnt feel so sensitive, grow a thick skin or just ignore what you dont like. Remember you will always get those that like to stir the pot.

Oh. I get it. We finally state that we're tired of being bashed, and the response we get is "well, you guys do it too".
They aren't comparable in the slightest. There have been books written, best selling books about Anti-Americanism. There have been Americans traveling overseas who refuse to tell others that they're American, or attempt to pass as Canadian. There are pamphlets being handed out by some American Government Agencies to American tourists on how to handle situations should you run into some anti-American sentiment overseas. There are American students dropping out of Universities overseas because of the verbal abuse. The list goes on and on......
And your reply is "you do it too". Yeah, usually in response to your insults. And if we're not replying to your insults, you go off and complain about how we don't know the rest of the world exists. Perhaps looking at how the rest of the world looks at and thinks of Americans, can you blame us for not wanting to pay attention?
The U.S. dollar hasn't been more worthless in over 30 years, yet somehow travel from the U.S. to Europe and other places overseas has remained steady. With America being so incredibly cheap right now, you'd think that travel to America would be up. However in places like Europe, travel is down close to 40%. Why is that you think?
So who has the problem with whom?

What is more disturbing to me is all the Americans bashing america.
I mean get real. Love it, or leave it, or if you dont love it and dont want to leave it, either VOTE or shut up.
I drive a gas guzzler, I recycle all of my beer bottles and anything else (mainly because there is no room in the trash can......)

Well l'm from the UK and it has been proved that the US is the worlds largest polluter in the world, using more oil than any other country and creating more waste than any other country, no country is perfect, but from what we are told your president refuses to keep any control over these issues, sorry if l have been told wrong imformation.

They are no better and are often worse. I dont pay them any attention. They are self righteous egomaniacs trying to make themselves feel special. There is a reason more people want to come to the US than anywhere else in the world

I think it can be said equally that foreigners bash USA as much as some USA people bash Canadians and Europe. IT goes both ways I'm afraid, it's a part of life and I've answered my fair share of Canadian bashing q's on here as well as in real life. I don't let it get to me but keep on moving. You can't change peoples opinions but you can learn to ignore them.
