forced conception is a reason for a miniscule number of the abortions performed;try again.

Thank you, finally someone with some common sense. The big problem as I see it is people think that it wont happen. Or want it to then change there mind. It is sad really.

1) Who ever claimed that teenagers and college age adults always exercise a little care? Especially when drugs and/or alcohol are thrown into the mix?

2) pointless to throw in date rape or oops no one told me that penicillin would make my pills quit working.

3) In general, people tend to think with their emotions on a much more consistent basis than with their heads.

4) If the person who has to carry the child for 9 months doesn't have the right to decide, who does?

5) And yes choosing not to is always the wisest choice. And I got my tubes tied decades ago. But perhaps you and I are in a decided minority and should maybe cut others a little slack? I know I made lots of really REALLY stupid mistakes

I agree, women should take steps to prevent pregnancy if they are not willing to be responsible for a child. Just my own personal beliefs, adoption is a better option.

There are clinics out there for woman that cannot afford birth control and there are a lot of government assistant programs to help woman and children, so I def think that there should be no reason for these women that just choose to carelessly get pregnant and get abortions.

For the women that do not have a choice, like rape, I can only say that if I were in that situation, I still couldn't choose to terminate my child's life. Thats only my personal opinion. If someone chooses to, I am not saying that I think that they are wrong, they are just different than me, that doesnt make them bad.

For the women who have a choice and do it, I think they are wrong. Just my personal opinion. There are things out there to help them prevent it.

Instead of reiterating that, indeed, there is no birth control that is 100%, which is a valid reason right there, I will say this instead.
Why insist on a woman birthing an unwanted child who has a great probability of bringing raised in poverty into a world which has too many people in the first place?

Many get pregnant when on birth control. It can fail. Additionally, some fetuses are deformed and the woman may chose to try for a healthy baby.

There are many reasons to chose an abortion. It's not to anyone to judge, and to condemn a woman to raise an unwanted child.

Unwanted pregnancies are always going to happen for whatever reason. We need to keep educating young people to try and cut down the number of abortions.

Because people refuse to take responsibility for there actions and when they get pregnant after sex they decide to kill a child rather than taking responsibility. Yes even with contraceptives there is still a chance, but you know that anyways when having sex that there is a chance of getting pregnant.

Can I choose not to get raped? Can I choose for the condom not to break? Can I choose for the pill to work 100% of the time?

By the way, I have never had an abortion, because I have never been pregnant but I know women that had too.

I totally agree with you. As a side note can anyone tell me where I can find statistics of the number of women who have conceived a child during rape? Because with all the shouting about that one scenario it MUST be a really high percentage...

Even with programs like Planned Parenthood, not everyone has access to birth control. Also, most methods of birth control are considered 99% effective (just like the pill). The only one that is 100% effective is abstienence. So there really aren't "current contraceptives that are...more reliable than the pill" as you say.
