My Norton antivirus and Webroot spywear just expired, should I renew or try something else? I have been hearing rumors that Norton isnt what it is cracked up to be anymore

Norton was great a few years ago, but now there are better alternatives.

NOD32 is one antivirus that should be considered. It is considerably lighter and easier on the system than Norton and it's detection rates are better.

Another great antivirus is Avira AntiVir PE Premium. This is very light on system resources and it's detection rates are one of the best.

Both of these have trials... NOD32 has a 30 day trial and Avira has a 90day trial! Always try a software before buying.

You will need to make sure Norton is completely uninstalled before installing any new antivirus.
Go to ad/remove programs list and uninstall it from there, then make sure you run the Norton removal tool available here; http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

Good luck!

It's anti-spyware, not spyware.

I would go with the full suite of Norton which includes anti-spyware and also online backup, it's called 360. Looks like a nice set of tools.

However if your PC is old it may bog it down a bit. Make sure you have the necessary RAM and processor speed to handle the new stuff, otherwise just re-up the old program for a new subscription.

Norton is not compatable with alot of systems. I use AVG Free Edition and never had any problems.
