Heres an analogy:
You go in to a casino with high confidence and start winning early, but now it's 3 AM and you're down half your mortgage. Breaking even looks pretty good about now.

I don't know how anyone can believe anything that the Bush administration tells them when it comes to national security. Looking at old footage from before the war on Iraq began, they made it sound as if there was absolute proof that Iraq had WMDs, a nuclear weapons program, and strong ties to al-Qaeda. It sounded as if Saddam could personally hand off a dirty bomb to Osama bin-Laden, give him a plane ticket to America and tell him to "Give 'em hell". How the leaders in this administration have not been impeached for such blatant lies is beyond me.
Yes, there are terrorists overseas. Yes, there are people who dislike America (mostly for our aggressive foreign policy). But there are ways to protect against those threats other than trying to crush their host nations. Are we going to march one-by-one through the middle east, Africa, and the remaining communist nations until there are no longer any "threats" to our way of life? Empires have tried that sort of world domination before, and even with superior military power it eventually led to their downfall.
Call it coddling the terrorists if you want or sending our enemies into therapy, but if our only way of dealing with threats is to attempt to destroy them with force, then we're doomed to always have more enemies waiting in the wings.

Well, since he's never said the first one at all, I guess no one probably thinks they're all true.
Are you trying to tell us that Saddam was NOT in violation of UN resolutions? That's kind of an odd stance to take in light of the facts.

I understand Bush is owned by big oil so he is doing his under-the-table slaughterings for the good of "theirs" and his economy, not ours. I would push Bush into a Global Warming pit with his fellow disbelievers and money grabbers ASAP. For I believe that this is the reason for our next Civil War, and rightfully so.
