Inside your inner ear is an organ called the cochlea. The cochlea is full of a viscous fluid. Also inside the cochlea are tiny little hairs. As the fluid sloshes back and forth from your head banging, it rapidly stimulates those tiny hairs. Those hairs, in turn, send the signal to your brain that you are rapidly changing position. Your brain, in an effort to stabilize you, makes you feel like you are losing your balance so that you will correct your position, but by that time you have moved your head rapidly the other way, which tells your brain that you have over corrected, so your brain makes you feel like you are losing your balance the other way to make you correct the over correction. You are doing this, depending on the music you play, up to twice a second. The conflicting signals that your brain is receiving end up confusing it, so it doesn't know what signal to send you, so it sends all of them, thus making you dizzy.

Big explanation, but that's what's happening.

yes it happens alot ...take a break on the head banging for a week or so and try something else ...because you dont want to hurt your neck ...plus you'll probably have some massive head aches ! lol

There is a good article on hearing disorders. i dont think you have a hearing disorder but that doesnt mean that one cant develop. head banging kills brain cells. i would say let the guitar & bass player do the head banging.

it isn't your ear drums that are affected, so much as your inner ear. You are doing serious damage that will never get better. Suggest you have your hearing checked and use protection for your ears when you play.

Of course it does. You are slamming your brain into the inside of your skull.
