Well if you were hurt enough to need hospital treatment and you have a police crime number you MIGHT be able to claim from the Criminal Compensation board. But it takes about 3 years to complete the claim, alot of hassle and you would get about £100 unless you have lost eyesight or something. Hardly worth it xx

sorry to hear. If you know who they are, then you'd have to press charges. after they get convicted compensation is discussed in a separate hearing. I hate violence and those events can really shake the victim. I've been thru the same and i went for the throat. But be warned, it draaaaggsss for aageeess. It come to one point when u just want to put it all behind your back and forget it. Hang in there :D

If you know who it was then I'd say go the police and report it. Having said that they'll probably ask for any witnesses to the incident, if not that might not take it any further. They might just give you a crime number and ask you to ring them back in 6 months when they can be bothered to look into it.
Good luck..

Assault, for starters.
Go to the cops and explain the situation. They will be able to tell you what charges apply. It's best if you have something to back you up. Witnesses are good, a hospital report of your wound is better, video tape is best.

If it was reported to the police, and you have a crime number, you can contact the Criminals Injury Board (the police can tell you how)

You can't really claim anything for yourself (i.e. money) but you can prosecute the bastard for something like battery, assault, ABH or GBH
