I just picked up a really nice book of seashells, at a yard sale, in mint condition, but it must have come from a home that had heavy smokers. I took a chance on it, thinking the answers group is very resoursefull. Any one have any suggestions?

I'm have a collection of antique books and collect ones that often smell. I put the book into a box with a lid and put activated charcoal in a plastic container in with the book. I open the pages to the book and check it every few days turning the pages to a different spot if it still smells. Usually within a week to 10 days the odor is absorbed. Baking soda will work too, it just takes longer.

A lot of times when I have that, I burn some Oil incense heavily around it. I prefer the oil because solid incense just smells like burning, not scent, and the candles get rid of all the nice smell as soon as you blow them out.
