Honesty. 100%. Anything else is smoke and mirrors.

Honesty, hands down. If they are honest, than you can make an informed decision regarding their positions on issues...and their values.

There have been no atheist presidents at all. Try to remember that the U.S. Presidency is a popularity contest (amongst a tiny group of Americans called the Electoral College NOT amongst American voters), and is not a measure of skill or ability.

We have had secular presidents, but never an atheist. I think most people would love to have a president that represents their values, and could look past someones religion. I genuinely believe that honesty and good policy are the best reasons to vote for anyone.

But there are sub sets of voters out there who seemingly only care about which candidate loves Jesus the most. Its sad, because we end up with candidates having to pander to religious nut bags instead of talking about real issues.

It's sad that the two are not congruent anymore. I believe that honesty is the best policy. The closest to an atheist that we've had at the helm was Thomas Jefferson, but he believed in God, just that God isn't involved with humanity anymore (A deist). There are a lot of mixed feelings about his presidency, as it was relatively laid back when compared to his work before independence...

Not all Christians are honest and not all who are honest are Christians. Given what I have seen from some lately who claim to be holier than the rest of us I would opt for anyone who is honest whether Christian or not. Unfortunately recent events, people etc. shows that a Non-Christian may be better.

I feel religion is a matter of personal choice. The leader of the free world needs to be forthright and honest.

Honesty! It seems lately everyone is forgetting "Separation of Church and State" It shouldn't matter what your religion is.
