Do you have specific memories from such a young age - are these memories strange in that they aren't anything special? What does it mean if you remember events from when you were 3 that don't seem so special in retrospect?

does anyone remember the bear that used to say, 'I love you' and give hugs? I think it was called huggy bear! I remember wanting it, and then going to the store and finding out they didn't sell them anymore . . .

i have memories from when i was three or younger....i don't think that is strange. and they are just ordinary memories...i personally think we remember them because they are actually when our mind began to click....we were thinking and processing our enviroment. that is why the image is still there.

I remember a little bit from when i was like 3 and 4,
I remember going to the zoo for the first time and being afraid to go into the petting zoo lol
I remember alot from like Kindergarten and 1st grade too
I actually used to have the huggy bear, or my sister did actually and we thought it was the greatest thing in the world, then my dog got it and ripped it apart and we were soooooooo sad!

Some parts of my childhood were extremely bad, so yes, I remember that far back with pretty good clarity (considering that I was 3 years old over 30 years ago). As far as the bear, are you perhaps refering to Teddy Rugspin (don't know if I spelled that right)? Just wondering.

: )

Yes, this is going to sound weird, so bear with me. I used to talk to my grandma through the wall in the bathroom closet. I thought that she lived there. Later, my mom told me that she used to play along, and pretend to be her, because I wouldn't leave her alone when she was in the bathtub. I also remember dropping things down one of those big old floor style heater vents to see where it went to, until my mom caught me and yelled at me. When we moved out of that house I had just turned 3. Hilarious now, but I was so mad when we moved because I thought I wouldn't get to see my grandma anymore. I can't remember what I did yesterday, but I can vividly remember all of that! Go figure!

I have two. I know how old I was b/c of the house we were in (prior to the move to the "new" house my parents had built).
I remember being outside, near the sidewalk & picking a flower and getting stung by a bee. I ran inside, crying.
The other thing I remember is running to my dad, jumping into his lap and not knowing he had a fresh cup of hot coffee in his hand. To avoid burning me, he jerked it back and spilled it all over his chest & arm.

Maybe I can remember them b/c one involved me getting hurt & the other involved me hurting my dad.

But, my mom is always surprised I remember these two events-because of how young I was at the time.

It is strange that it is mostly the mundane that we remember. I remember putting the star on the Christmas tree when I was three. That was 57 years ago by the way. And other little things. Melting crayons on the radiator and watching the colors run is one. Yup. Got in BIG trouble for that!

I remember when my little sister was born. She is 2 years younger than I am. I think its pretty cool that I can remember that. The human brain is a wonderful thing but its not staggeringly amazing that someone can remember things from early on while the brain is forming.

I seem to only remember traumatic things, but the memories aren't very accurate.
I remember falling out of a bunk bed in a camper and breaking my collarbone (my memory shows me falling on a knife and being examined in a cave). I also remember being at my aunts house watching my brother fall down the stairs...(in reality it was me that fell)....

no. i only have one memory that was before the age of 5. the rest of them are after i was 5.

I have seen photos and family home movies of things from earlier ages before then, so i remember those things; but the only things i have an actual memory of are from kindergarten on. (minus one event as a toddler).

weird, huh?
