All Hallows Eve is still running but much overlaid with nonsense about witchcraft and paganism.

All Hallows eve is the Eve of All Hallows. All Hallows is Old English for All Saints - the feast on November 1st when the church remembers all those who have died in Christ but who do not have a specific feast day. The customs all have their roots in that celebration.

Edit: Yes many people do still remember the Christian custom of putting up lights to wlecome the Saints and faces to scare away evil.

No. The celebration of Halloween comes from the Celtic culture, which was unknown to the Bible authors. "All Hallow's Eve" is a Catholic tradition that did not begin until the Middle Ages, centuries after the Bible was complete. So there no mention of either in the scriptures. There are Old Testament laws that prohibit worshiping or communicating with the dead, which is a part of the Halloween traditions. That is forbidden in scripture (whether on Halloween or any other day.)

As one who was born at midnight on All Hallow's Eve I can tell you that the facts are as true as they ever were. This night is the only one that the departed are allowed to revisit Earth and the homes of their loved ones. This is why the skulls are preserved after the bone-fire and displayed in a prominent place to guide the spirit homeward. The reason, so we are told, is because the veil that divides us is the thinnest on that night. The modern celebrations derive from this although now much altered and corrupted. So be careful who you open the door to.
