Well, I was in a pageant and won Miss Junior Connecticut in 1990 and the thing that helped me win was doing a commerical for Pizza Hut....

I don't know if they still do things like commericals or whatnots (they didn't have a talent part just having to do an original commerical like that)

Maybe she can sing a song...doing both at the same time is a big plus these days too...good luck and I hope she wins....

It amazes me that these archaic pageants still take place in this day and age where we single out one girl or woman to stand out above the others as an ideal. Why do you think Miss America had to move from a major network to an obscure cable channel...because no one's interested in that sort of thing anymore.

They perpetuate the notion that women must present themselves (often in makeup, bathing suits, and ridiculously high heels) for approval of others in order to have some kind of value.

I'd probably get her into a poetry group instead. Or get her some formal singing and dance lessons so perhaps she might use her talents to send a more positive message to other girls and who knows, maybe even make a living at it.
