When I drive behind someone fumes come in my car. When I drive down the highway fumes come in the car. I have a 2006 Honda Civic. I called Honda and they told me it is normal. The smell is so bad that I have to drive with the window down- IN the winter just to keep from getting a headache. Any suggestions?

Use your recirculate button in your heating/AC system. This will shut out the outside air and only use the air inside the car, instead of sucking in the toxic outside air. Also, shampoo your engine at a do-it-yourself car wash to make sure the fumes aren't coming from something that has stuck to your exhaust system and begins to melt and stink up your incoming air vents.

Are you sure it's not coming from your car? You could have a leak in your exhaust system. I would have that checked out first.

close your outside air vent on your dash if you have it open.
