I'm looking for a particular movie, that came out a longggggggg time ago, sometime in 1971. Its called the Doberman Gang. A movie about some doberman dogs that are trained to rob banks LOL - "back then" this movie was a big hit, and me being a huge dog lover, you'd think I'd have it my business to see the movie when it came out but I never saw it. NOW I want to see it really bad but cant find the movie anywhere. I did a search online and came up with this site that has the movie on dvd (how can they have the movie on DVD when dvd's were not in back then?) - I'm a bit "not" in-the-know, so can anyone help me out here? so that I dont send my $12-$15 and not get what I'm trying to pay for?

How do I know if this site is legit? (I dont want to go to ebay)

...unfortunately, the film has yet to see official release on DVD, and only a couple of the '70's 'Doberman Gang' movies actually saw release on videotape (...I was lucky enough to find 1976's "The Amazing Dobermans", years before it went out of print); Turner Classic Movies has been known to show the 'Doberman' movies, from time to time, and I have duped them all, from those broadcasts...

...with no official release date in site, for any of the films in the series, I may just end up transfering my copies to DVD-R...

(edit)

...very interesting site, you provided; I suspect that most of the films that these folks are offering on DVD, are probably broadcast dupes, or even dupes from out-of-print VHS tapes. High profile movies (...even the ones that have been deemed as 'forgotten', like those on the website...), which have not seen release on DVD, or even videotape, sorta fall into a grey area, or under the radar, as far as legality; purchasing items from a site like this, shouldn't get you into any trouble. However, as the old saying goes, "caveat emptor", or "let the buyer beware"; be sure you get an idea of the quality, or even the playability of the titles on this site. Be also aware that film titles unceremoniously fall in and out of public domain; I'm no longer surprised at how even the rarest of films, which I would have suspected never to get released on DVD, actually make their way there...

I usually go to regular online stores first to see if they have the movie I like. Example: Wal-mart, Target, Best-Buy. I trust those sites and usually order my movies there. Wal-mart usually has all the movies so I go straight there even for my old movies.
