I was just diagnosed with GD. I'm really freaked out. I keep reading that women with GD are more likely to get Type II diabetes. So, here are my questions:

1. Since I have GD, does having it make me more succeptable to Type II now? If yes, Why?

2. Can GD "roll over" into Type II? or am I just more succeptable? (someone posted that it can immediately turn into Type II which scares the hell out of me, so I want to know if that is true)

Thanks. I will be taking a class soon, but I want to know now.

From what I know about GD, people who suffer from it are MORE likely to develop type 2 diabetes withing 10 yrs. The reason why, is because being pregnant is a HUGE strain on the human body and every organ that has a potential weakness, is more likely to fail then. That's also why more women have gall bladder issues either while pregnant or shortly after delivery. While changing your lifestyle is always a good idea when faced with diabetes, there's not much you can do to prevent gestational diabetes at this point. Sometimes people say gestational diabetes turns into type 2 but really it was probably an undiagnosed case of type 2 diabetes to start with. Try not to get all worried about it, but if you have a high fat/high sugar intake now is your wakeup call to change before you do develop type 2.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Having GD does make you more susceptible to getting Type II diabetes down the road sometime. However, if you continue to eat healthy, exercise, and maintain a healthy weight after your pregnancy your chances are slim. GD does not immediately turn into Type II diabetes. Take care of yourself and you should be fine.

My sister had GD with 2 of her pregnancies. 15 years later and she's just fine.

Discuss your fears with your doctor. If you want to know NOW you can also contact the professionals at the American Diabetes Association http://www.diabetes.org/about-diabetes.jsp instead of getting the learned opinions from people on this non-professional forum.
