Why did they run so much in this game and not just totally blow them away with Brady's arm

I would say the reason they ran so much yesterday is because they are getting Maroney warmed up for the playoffs this was a rust removal game for the Patriots since they have not been running the ball very effectively so to make others wonder if they can run or not now the other teams know they can if they have to

Mostly because Brady was OFF yesterday (maybe because of the weather maybe not, other lesser QBs threw in worse conditions yesterday). His arm wasn't blowing anybody away and his decision making was suspect. There is a chink in that armor. If they don't establish that they have a running game they will get beat in the playoffs. Probably by the Jags whose D-backs can run with those receivers. They need to start making other teams worry about their run game and not ignore it. One-dimensional never wins Championships, unless they have an unbeatable D which the Pats don't have.

Crazy little thing called wind. Lots of it. A lot of teams had passinf issues.....look at Eli...tried 52 times....missed 34 of them. The Browns game, Pittsburgh...etc....it was simply running weather, and the Pats didn't need to throw to win...so why take chances for interceptions? And while I think Brady would not mind the passing TD record...I really don't think that is their guiding principle.....Patriots are all about the team. They may be arrogant, they may hate the rest of the NFL...but they playas a team, for the good of the team, not for individual stats.

OK. Did you watch the game?
The field was covered in a layer of ice, it was slippery, and the entire game there was freezing rain falling. You can't throw effectively in those conditions. The ball is slippery, the field is slippery, so nobody can get a true speed advantage, and it was windy.

They did they so they could develop the run a little bit. Also it was windy at the game w/ 20 mph winds gusting up to 55-60 mph.

The running game had been a concern lately, and this was the perfect game to get it back on track.
