I have zeroed to Acer aspire 4520 which uses AMD Athlon[ AMD 64 X2 Mobile Technology - Athlon TK-53/TK-55 (1.70/1.80 GHz, 2x 256 KB L2 cache), supporting AMD PowerNow! technology and AMD HyperTransport technology
NVIDIA nForce 610M (MCP67-MV)] and Acer aspire 4720 which uses Intel core2duo[ Intel Centrino Duo mobile processor technology, featuring:
T5250 (2 MB L2 cache, 1.50 GHz, 667 MHz FSB), supporting Intel 64 architecture
Mobile Intel GM965 Express Chipset
].AMD one is coming for Rs.29k and Intel is coming for 31.5k.Other features are mostly same.which one should I purchase?

people's knowledge about CPU's seems not to be the best.
Athlon TK processors are worse than Turion TL processors, and the Core 2 Duo beat a TK processor in every application. it beat even every Turion TL Cpu with the same or even slightly higher clock rate.
furthermore you get the new GM965 chipset that has been explicitely developped for the Core 2 Duo processors. the C2D processor has the best power management atm, so the laptop will have a longer battery life.
an additional advantage is the much larger L2 cache of 2MB-shared against the low 2x256kB fixed cache (shared means the Cpu can allocate the cache to each core how it's needed, it's not fixed 1MB for each core).
my choice would be the Intel T5250.

I go with intel core 2 duo because this is the latest processor from intel..pentium dual core is the previous processor released by intel..i have seen the demo on intel core 2 duo vs amd athlon in an exhibiton and i found that intel core 2 dou is more reliable compare to amd

Intel all the way. and if you are asking why?
1. lower power used. higher performance(yeah i mean it) than AMD. Intel uses lesser wattage(equals to longer battery power). AMD eats up battery power like a hog.
2.Media = the GM965 GMA and nforce 610M is better and supports more popular media applications.
3. Cache = with 2 MB L2 cache for intel other than 512KB for AMD(that too AMD shares cache memory)
4.Frequecy= Intel really runs on the stated frequency when CPU load is maxed(overclocks good). for AMD yeah the inverse.
5. reaction to heat: if by chance you have a CPU fan failure,
then Intel immediately shuts off or loses frequency, AMD burns thereby destroying your precious investment.
what more can i say , i can continue on praising Intel why rocks and why i chose intel over AMD way back when Pentium 2 was the CPU everyone had(my AMD got burnt 3 times, lost about 24,000INR) also even when AMD broke the Gigahertz barrier, i chose to remain loyal to Intel and it has never failed me to this day (using the Core 2 Extreme QX6850). GO! GO! intel

Everybody has their own preferences about which company to go with. I honestly recommend you go for what you do a lot of. If you are a gamer or you usually use a lot of programs such as photoshop or anything that uses a mass amount of RAM then I suggest you go with the AMD. Not only are the AMD's faster when loading up programs that use mass amounts of RAM but they can handle it better too. the Intel core 2 duo processors are better used if you run a business or just want to surf the web and never really use high end programs. The difference in the two is basically one deals better with high end programs while the other one can handle but does better with lower end programs.

The Core 2 Duo's currently have the edge as far as performance is concerned. They run around 10-25% faster at similar clock speeds.
Since you are comparing a 1.5ghz intel and a 1.8ghz AMD they are going to be around the same as far as performance goes.
Though I will say that the Core 2 Duo will probably give you more battery life due to its lower power consumption.
As far as quality goes, they are going to be about the same. Don't listen to anyone who says "Don't get AMD, they suck" and the same for anyone who says it about Intel.

I WOULD HAVE SAID INTEL IF IT WAS INTEL PENTIUM CORE 2 BUT IT IS CENTRINO. I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THOSE KIND BUT I NOTICE THEY ARE CHEAPER IN PRICE. ANYWAY I WOULD HAVE TO SAY AMD FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CENTRINO. AMD 64 IS GOOD. THEIR IS A GREAT SITE CALLED TOMS HARDWARE WITH ALOT OF INFORMATION

Hi i would say that AMD is the best but if u are residing in India then u should go for the INTEl because there are not much service centers in India for AMD so it is better to take INTEL
If u want to rate me both these processors out of 10 then i would rate them as
AMD :::::: 9/10
INTEL :::::: 7/10

If you need straight CPU power, the intel. If you need decent graphics and good CPU power, the AMD.
